We can say that I’m new to welcoming and recognizing emotions well, giving them a name, and knowing how to manage them.
Until a few years ago, I lived everything that happened to me, but I often found myself reproducing some feelings because I didn’t feel they were mine or because I had no one to talk to about them.
Then, I discovered what is called emotional intelligence, and step by step I understood how to let all my emotions flow without holding them back, without forcing them to channel themselves into hidden places that I didn’t even know existed.
It often happens that people tell you: “Don’t worry if you’re suffering, sooner or later it will pass”. Or “You’re so happy, you’ll see it won’t be like this forever”… I used to say “Yeah, that’s what it is” but now I say “I’m sorry, why?”
If I have pain it will pass, but I have to do something, pain doesn’t go away by itself, and if I’m happy why can’t it be like this forever? I think with time everything changes, we change and our emotions grow and evolve with us.
What I’ve learned about pain, although I’ve been lucky enough to experience it a few times, is that it never goes away, we learn to live with it and slowly only the good memories remain, the ones that make you relive some moments with joy and gratitude.
As for happiness, we can’t feel like we’re at the amusement park every day, but we can find a way to live each day to the fullest with our happiness.
Being happy isn’t something that falls from the sky like rain, it’s something you have to work on, and you have to find a way to be happy every day.
Being happy, perhaps, is one of the hardest things to achieve in life. What I am learning is that yes, it is possible to be happy every day. If we love ourselves, love what we do, and how we live our lives, we can be happy every day. Weaknesses, tiredness, and a few bad days can never ruin our happiness because we can always count on ourselves!
Making this inner journey is difficult, tiring, sometimes dangerous, and sometimes very painful, but at the end of the day being a little closer to who we want to be, makes you go to bed with a smile. And the beautiful thing? I also wake up in the morning with a smile on my face.
True emotions are the ones that come, flow, and allow themselves to be experienced and transformed. They are not the ones that are shelved in the far corner of the heart and slowly forgotten. Do you know why? They are never forgotten! They stay there, but sooner or later something makes them come back, and it will be harder to accept and overcome them.
I’m learning to let all my emotions flow even though it can be difficult at times, but the moment you can live to the fullest you can always be happy!
Building your happiness through your emotions is the greatest joy we can experience.
